52. At-Tur

By the (mount) Tur (where Moses received Torah)

«والطور» أي الجبل الذي كلم الله عليه موسى

Verse 1

and by the book inscribed

«وكتاب مسطور»

Verse 2

in parchment (written sheep skin) unrolled

«في رقٍّ منشور» أي التوراة أو القرآن

Verse 3

and by the house (Bait-ul-Mamoor, the house over the heavens parallel to the Ka’bah at Makkah, visited by the angels)

«والبيت المعمور» هو في السماء الثالثة أو السادسة أو السابعة بحيال الكعبة يزوره كل يوم سبعون ألف ملك بالطواف والصلاة لا يعودون إليه أبدا

Verse 4

and by the roof raised high (sky)

«والسقف المرفوع» أي السماء

Verse 5

and by the sea boiling blaze

«والبحر المسجور» أي المملوء

Verse 6

surely, the punishment of your Lord will surely come to pass

«إن عذاب ربك لواقع» لنازل بمستحقه

Verse 7

There is none that can avert it

«ماله من دافع» عنه

Verse 8

On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking

«يوم» مفعول لواقع «تمور السماء مورا» تتحرك وتدور

Verse 9

and the mountains will move away with a horrible movement

«وتسير الجبال سيرا» تصير هباء منثورا وذلك في يوم القيامة

Verse 10

On that Day, woe be to the rejecters (of truth)

«فويل» شدة عذاب «يومئذ للمكذبين» للرسل

Verse 11

who are engaged in falsehood

«الذين هم في خوض» باطل «يلعبون» أي يتشاغلون بكفرهم

Verse 12

That Day they will be pushed down by force to the fire of hell with a forceful pushing

«يوم يُدعُّون إلى نار جهنم دعّا» يدفعون بعنف بدل من يوم تمور، ويقال لهم تبكيتا

Verse 13

(it will be said to them): “This is the fire which you used to deny

«هذه النار التي كنتم بها تكذبون»

Verse 14

Is this a magic, or do you not see

«أفسحر هذا» العذاب الذي ترون كما كنتم تقولون في الوحي هذا سحر «أم أنتم لا تبصرون»

Verse 15

You burn in its heat; it will be the same for you whether you be patient or not be patient. You are only being requited for what you used to do.”

«اصلوْها فاصبروا» عليها «أو لا تصبروا» صبركم وجزعكم «سواء عليكم» لأن صبركم لا ينفعكم «إنما تجزون ما كنتم تعملون» أي جزاءه

Verse 16

Surely, the pious will be in gardens (Paradise), and delight

«إن المتقين في جنات ونعيم»

Verse 17

enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the blazing fire

«فاكهين» متلذذين «بما» مصدرية «آتاهم» أعطاهم «ربهم ووقاهم ربهم عذاب الجحيم» عطفا على آتاهم، أي بإتيانهم ووقايتهم ويقال لهم

Verse 18

(It will be said to them): “Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do (good deeds).”

«كلوا واشربوا هنيئا» حال أي: مهنئين «بما» الباء سببية «كنتم تعملون»

Verse 19

They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to lovely maidens with wide lovely eyes

(متكئين) حال من الضمير المستكن في قوله "" في جنات "" (على سرر مصفوفة) بعضها إلى جنب بعض (وزوجناهم) عطف على جنات، أي قرناهم (بحور عين) عظام الأعين حسانها

Verse 20

Those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will join their offspring to them, and We will not decrease any reward for their deeds. Every person has a pledge for that which it has earned

«والذين آمنوا» مبتدأ «أتبعناهم» وفي قراءة واتبعتهم معطوف على آمنوا «ذرياتهم» وفي قراءة ذريتهم الصغار والكبار «بإيمان» من الكبار ومن أولادهم الصغار والخبر «ألحقنا بهم ذرياتهم» المذكورين في الجنة فيكونون في درجتهم وإن لم يعملوا تكرمة للآباء باجتماع الأولاد إليهم «وما ألتناهم» بفتح اللام وكسرها نقصناهم «من عملهم من» زائدة «شيء» يزاد في عمل الأولاد «كل امرئ بما كسب» من عمل خير أو شر «رهين» مرهون يؤاخذ بالشر ويجازى بالخير

Verse 21

And We shall provide them with fruit and meat as they desire

«وأمددناهم» زدناهم في وقت بعد وقت «بفاكهة ولحم ما يشتهون» وإن لم يصرحوا بطلبه

Verse 22

They shall pass from hand to hand a wine cup in it which shall cause no dirty, false talk in it (between them), and no sin will go around

«يتنازعون» يتعاطون بينهم «فيها» أي الجنة «كأسا» خمرا «لا لغوٌ فيها» أي بسبب شربها يقع بينهم «ولا تأثيم» به يلحقهم بخلاف خمر الدنيا

Verse 23

and boy-servants will go round for them to serve them as if they were preserved pearls

«ويطوف عليهم» للخدمة «غلمان» أرقاء «لهم كأنهم» حسنا ولطافة «لؤلؤ مكنون» مصون في الصدف لأنه فيها أحسن منه في غيرها

Verse 24

And some of them will come near to others, questioning (worldly life)

«وأقبل بعضهم على بعض يتساءلون» يسأل بعضهم بعضا عما كانوا عليه وما وصلوا إليه تلذذا واعترافا بالنعمة

Verse 25

and they will say: “Surely, we were previously afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah)

«قالوا» إيماء إلى علة الوصول «إنا كنا قبل في أهلنا» في الدنيا «مشفقين» خائفين من عذاب الله

Verse 26

But Allah has been Gracious to us, and has saved us from the punishment of the fire

«فمنّ الله علينا» بالمغفرة «ووقانا عذاب السموم» النار لدخولها في المسام وقالوا إيماء أيضا

Verse 27

Surely, we used to invoke Him before. Surely, He is the Kind, the Merciful.”

«إنا كنا من قبل» أي في الدنيا «ندعوه» نعبده موحدين «إنه» بالكسر استئنافا وإن كان تعليلا معنى وبالفتح تعليلا لفظا «هو البر» المحسن الصادق في وعده «الرحيم» العظيم الرحمة

Verse 28

Therefore, remind and preach (mankind, O Muhammad). By the Grace of Allah, you are neither a fortune-teller, nor a madman

«فذكِّر» دم على تذكير المشركين ولا ترجع عنه لقولهم لك كاهن مجنون «فما أنت بنعمة ربك» بإنعامه عليك «بكاهن» خبر ما «ولا مجنون» معطوف عليه

Verse 29

Or do they say: “(Muhammad is) a poet! We are waiting for him some calamity (by time)!”

«أم» بل «يقولون» هو «شاعر نتربص به ريْب المنون» حوادث الدهر فيهلك كغيره من الشعراء

Verse 30

Say (O Muhammad to them): “Wait! I am with you among the waiters!”

«قل تربصوا» هلاكي «فإني معكم من المتربصين» هلاككم فعذبوا بالسيف يوم بدر، والتربص الانتظار

Verse 31

Or do their minds command them this (to tell a lie against you)? Or are they people exceeding all bounds (from belief to disbelief)

«أم تأمرهم أحلامهم» عقولهم «بهذا» قولهم له: ساحر كاهن مجنون، أي لا تأمرهم بذلك «أم» بل «هم قوم طاغون» بعنادهم

Verse 32

Or do they say: “He (Muhammad) has forged it (this Qur’an)?” Nay! They don’t believe

«أم يقولون تقوَّلهُ» اختلق القرآن، لم يختلقه «بل لا يؤمنون» استكبارا، فإن قالوا اختلقه

Verse 33

Then let them produce a Scripture like it (the Qur’an) if they are truthful

«فليأتوا بحديث» مختلق «مثله إن كانوا صادقين» في قولهم

Verse 34

Or were they created by no one? Or were they (themselves) the creators

«أم خُلقوا من غير شيء» من غير خالق «أم هم الخالقون» أنفسهم ولا يعقل مخلوق بغير خالق ولا معدوم يخلق فلابد من خالق هو الله الواحد فلم لا يوحدونه ويؤمنون برسوله وكتابه

Verse 35

Or have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm belief

«أم خلقوا السماوات والأرض» ولا يقدر على خلقهما إلا الله الخالق فلم لا يعبدونه «بل لا يوقنون» به وإلا لآمنوا بنبيه

Verse 36

Or are the treasures of your Lord with them? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like

«أم عندهم خزائن ربك» من النبوة والرزق وغيرهما فيخصوا من شاءُوا بما شاءُوا «أم هم المسيطرون» المتسلطون الجبارون وفعله سيطر ومثله بيطر وبيقر

Verse 37

Or do they have a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some clear proof

«أم لهم سلم» مرقى إلى السماء «يستمعون فيه» أي عليه كلام الملائكة حتى يمكنهم منازعة النبي بزعمهم إن ادعوا ذلك «فليأت مبين» بحجة مستمعهم مدعي الاستماع عليه «بسلطان مبين» بينة واضحة ولشبه هذا الزعم بزعمهم أن الملائكة بنات الله قال تعالى

Verse 38

Or has He only daughters and you have sons

«أم له البنات» بزعمكم «ولكم البنون» تعالى الله عما زعمتموه

Verse 39

Or is it that you (O Muhammad) ask a wage from them (for your preaching) so that they are burdened from a load of debt

«أم تسألهم أجرا» على ما جئتهم به من الدين «فهم من مغرم» غرم ذلك «مثقلون» فلا يسلمون

Verse 40

Or is the (knowledge of) unseen with them and they write it down

«أم عندهم الغيب» أي علمه «فهم يكتبون» ذلك حتى يمكنهم منازعة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في البعث وأمور الآخرة بزعمهم

Verse 41

Or do they intend a plot (against you)? If so, those who disbelieve are themselves (trapped) in a plot

«أم يريدون كيدا» بك ليهلكوك في دار الندوة «فالذين كفروا هم المكيدون» المغلوبون المهلكون فحفظه الله منهم ثم أهلكهم ببدر

Verse 42

Or do they have one worthy of worship other than Allah? Glorified is Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him)

«أم لهم إله غير الله سبحان الله عما يشركون» به من الآلهة والاستفهام بأم في مواضعها للتقبيح والتوبيخ

Verse 43

Even if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: “Clouds gathered in heaps!”

(وإن يروا كسفا) بعضا (من السماء ساقطا) عليهم كما قالوا: "" فأسقط علينا كسفا من السماء "" أي تعذيبا لهم (يقولوا) هذا (سحاب مركوم) متراكب نروى به ولا يؤمنون

Verse 44

So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror)

«فذرهم حتى يلاقوا يومهم الذي فيه يصعقون» يموتون

Verse 45

The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing nor will be helped

«يوم لا يغني» بدل من يومهم «عنهم كيدهم شيئا ولا هم يُنصرون» يمنعون من العذاب في الآخرة

Verse 46

Surely, for those who do wrong, there is punishment (in this world and in graves) before this, but most of them don’t know

«وإنَّ للذين ظلموا» بكفرهم «عذابا دون ذلك» في الدنيا قبل موتهم فعذبوا بالجوع والقحط سبع سنين وبالقتل يوم بدر «ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون» أن العذاب ينزل بهم

Verse 47

So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for the decision of your Lord, for surely He is watching you. Glorify the praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep

«واصبر لحكم ربك» بإمهالهم ولا يضق صدرك «فإنك بأعيننا» بمرأى منا نراك ونحفظك «وسبح» متلبسا «بحمد ربك» أي قل: سبحان الله وبحمده «حين تقوم» من منامك أو من مجلسك

Verse 48

and also glorify His praises in the night-time, and at the setting of stars

«ومن الليل فسبحه» حقيقة أيضا «وإدبار النجوم» مصدر، أي عقب غروبها سبحه أيضا، أو صلّ في الأول العشاءين، وفي الثاني الفجر وقيل الصبح

Verse 49
