Surah 55. Ar-Rahmaan

The Gracious (Allah)

Who taught (mankind) the Qur’an

created human

and taught human persuasive speech

The sun and the moon (run on their fixed courses) for reckoning

The stars and the trees both prostrate

And He has raised the heaven high, and He has set up the balance

so that you may not transgress in the balance

Establish the weight with justice and don’t give less in measurement

And He has put the earth for the creatures

therein are fruits, date-palms with sheathed fruit-stalks

and corn with leaves and stalk for food and sweet-scented plants

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

He created man from sounding clay like the clay of pottery

and He created the jinns from smokeless flame of fire

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

(He is) the Lord of the 2 easts (places of sunrise during summer and winter) and the Lord of the 2 wests (places of sunset during summer and winter)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

He has let loose the 2 seas (salt water and sweet water) meeting together

Yet, between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Both pearl and coral come out of them

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

And the ships are His going and coming in the seas like mountains

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Everyone who is on it (earth) will perish

and the Face (authority) of your Lord will remain full of Majesty and Honor forever

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Whoever is in the heavens and on earth begs of Him (for needs). Every day He is engaged in some matter (task)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

We shall attend to you (give account), O you 2 classes (jinns and mankind)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

O assembly of jinns and mankind! If you have the power to pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth (to escape punishment), then pass them! But you will never be able to pass them, except with authority (from Allah)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

The smokeless flames of fire and molten brass will be sent against you both (jinns and mankind), and you will not be able to defend yourselves

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

When the heaven will burst and it becomes rosy (or red) like red hide

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

On that Day neither human nor jinn will be asked about their sins (their faces will be either white (for Paradise) or black (for hell)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

The sinners will be recognized by their marks (black faces) and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

(It will be said to them): “This is hell which the sinners had denied it.”

They will go around between it (hell) and the boiling hot water

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

But for those who fear the standing before their Lord, there will be 2 gardens (in Paradise)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

With spreading branches (of shady trees)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

In both of them 2 springs will be flowing

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

In both of them there will be every kind of fruit in pairs

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

They will recline on couches whose inner livings will be of silk brocade and the fruits of the 2 gardens will be near at hand

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Therein will be chaste virgins restraining their glances (upon their husbands only) whom no human or jinn has touched them before

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

They are (in beauty) like rubies and coral

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Is there any reward for good other than good

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Besides these 2 there shall be 2 other gardens (in Paradise)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

(shaded with) dark green (trees)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

In both of them there will be 2 springs gushing out water

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

In each of them there will be fruits, date-palms, and pomegranates

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Therein will be chaste and beautiful (virgins)

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Beautiful virgins (Huris) guarded in pavilions

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Whom no human or jinn has touched them before

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Reclining on green cushions and rich beautiful mattresses

Then which of your Lord’s favors will you both (jinns and human) deny

Blessed is the name of your Lord (Allah), the Owner of Majesty and Honor
