99. Az-Zalzala

When the earth will be shaken with its (final) earthquake

«إذا زُلزلت الأرض» حركت لقيام الساعة «زلزالها» تحريكها الشديد المناسب لعظمتها

Verse 1

and when the earth will throw out its inner burdens

«وأخرجت الأرض أثقالها» كنوزها وموتاها فألقتها على ظهرها

Verse 2

and people will say: “What is the matter with it?”

«وقال الإنسان» الكافر بالبعث «مالها» إنكارا لتلك الحالة

Verse 3

On that Day it will declare whatever had happened (to it)

«يومئذ» بدل من إذا وجوابها «تُحدث أخبارها» تخبر بما عمل عليها من خير وشر

Verse 4

because your Lord will command it

(بأن) بسبب أن (ربك أوحى لها) أي أمرها بذلك، وفي الحديث "" تشهد على كل عبد أو أمة بكل ما عمل على ظهرها

Verse 5

On that Day, mankind will proceed in sorted groups so that they may be shown their (book of) deeds

«يومئذ يصدر الناس» ينصرفون من موقف الحساب «أشتاتا» متفرقين فآخذ ذات اليمين إلى الجنة وآخذ ذات الشمال إلى النار «ليروا أعمالهم» أي جزاءها من الجنة أو النار

Verse 6

Whoever has done good equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it there

«فمن يعمل مثقال ذرة» زنة نملة صغيرة «خيرا يره» ير ثوابه

Verse 7

whoever has done evil equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it there

«ومن يعمل مثقال ذرة شرا يره» ير جزاءه
